How to Import Tea from Vietnam
A short guide for tea importers, blenders and packers buying bulk tea from a Vietnamese manufacturer: grades, samples, minimum order, prices, documents, packing and shipping.
Importing tea from Vietnam in six steps
- Choose the grade. Tell us the use (loose tea, tea bags, milk tea, blending base) or send a sample of the tea you buy today. Compare grades on our tea grades and specifications page.
- Approve a sample. We send samples of the grades we propose. The sample you approve becomes the reference for your order.
- Get a quotation. We quote per order, FOB Hai Phong or CIF to your port, with the lead time for your lot.
- Confirm the order. After the proforma invoice is confirmed, the lot is produced or drawn from current stock, sorted and checked against the approved sample.
- Inspection and documents. Third-party inspection by SGS or Dai Viet Control can be arranged before shipment, and we prepare the export documents your import requires.
- Packing and loading. The tea is packed in the packing you chose and loaded into a 40-foot high cube (40HC) container.
Questions importers ask
Is Goo Farm Tea Vietnam a manufacturer or a trader? A manufacturer. We produce the tea we sell in our own factories in Phu Tho and Yen Bai, northern Vietnam, and we do not resell tea bought from other factories.
What is the minimum order? One 40-foot high cube (40HC) container.
How much tea fits in a 40HC container? About 13 to 28 tons, depending on the grade: 25 to 28 tons of dust and fannings, 23 to 26 tons of CTC, and 13 to 18 tons of large-leaf orthodox grades. See packing and loading for every grade.
Do you send samples? Yes, for the grades we propose for your use. The approved sample is the reference for the whole order, and every order must be the same as or better than that sample.
How are prices quoted? Per order, FOB Hai Phong or CIF. Price depends on grade, quantity, packing and the time of year. Our product pages show an indicative FOB price per kilogram, and the final price is in our quotation.
Which export documents do you provide? The documents your import requires, such as certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate and certificate of analysis. Our GACC registration covers shipments to China.
Can the tea be inspected before shipment? Yes. Third-party inspection by SGS or Dai Viet Control can be arranged for each shipment.
Is the factory certified? Yes. Our Yen Bai factory holds ISO 22000:2018 certificate No. 31905-FSV from Vinacontrol for the manufacturing and trading of dried tea, valid until 5 July 2029.
How is the tea packed? Bulk tea goes in woven PP bags with a PE liner, kraft paper sacks, export cartons or vacuum aluminum bags. Private-label packing under your brand and retail packs are available on request.
Which grades are used for tea bags and which for loose tea? Tea bags and extracts use fannings and dust, such as CTC PF and PD and orthodox Fanning F1 to Dust 3. Loose tea and premium bags use whole-leaf and broken grades such as OPA, OP, Pekoe, BOP and PS.
What is an STD code? Our reference code for each tea grade and sample. Quote the STD code when you ask for samples or a quotation, so we both talk about exactly the same tea.
How long does an order take? We give the lead time for your lot with the quotation. It depends on the grade, the quantity and whether the tea is produced or drawn from current stock.
Which countries do you export to? More than 30 countries, mainly in the CIS, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.
How do I get a quotation? Send us the grade or use, the quantity, the packing and the destination port through our quotation form, by email at antony@goofarm.com.vn or on WhatsApp or Viber at +84823751769.
