About our organic Snow Shan tea
Our organic tea is made from old Shan tea trees growing above 1,000 metres in the mountains of northern Vietnam. It comes from a partner garden that is farmed organically, with no synthetic fertilisers or chemical pesticides; the leaf is picked by hand and processed on the day of picking.
We offer Snow Shan green tea in three grades from the same garden and the same processing. Organic Snow Shan Premium is one bud and one young leaf, the finest pick, for specialty retail and gift tins. Organic Snow Shan Select is one bud and two leaves, sorted by hand for an even leaf in tins and pyramid bags. Organic Snow Shan Standard is one bud and two leaves without the extra sorting, a fuller cup at the most accessible price.
From the same garden we also make two specialty teas. Organic Spike Bud Tea is made only from single buds picked before the first leaf opens, the rarest pick of the range, for specialty shops and gift tins. Organic Red Tea is fully oxidised, the style the Chinese call hongcha: a smooth black tea with a red liquor.

Frequently asked questions
Is it certified organic for the EU or the US? No. The garden is farmed to Vietnam's national organic standard (TCVN 11041-6:2018); the tea does not hold EU or USDA organic certification, so it cannot be labelled organic in those markets. Each shipment can be tested by an independent laboratory.
What is the difference between the three grades? They come from the same garden and the same processing. Premium is one bud and one young leaf with more white tips; Select is one bud and two leaves, sorted by hand for an even look; Standard is one bud and two leaves without the extra sorting, for a fuller cup at the lowest price of the three.
What are Spike Bud Tea and Red Tea? Two more teas from the same organic garden. Spike Bud Tea is made only from single buds picked before the first leaf opens, the rarest pick of the range. Red Tea is fully oxidised, the style the Chinese call hongcha: a black tea with a red liquor, not rooibos.
