Thank you for visiting our Hanoi office and tea factories
Over the past months we have had the pleasure of welcoming tea buyers from several of our markets to Hanoi: importers, blenders and distributors who wanted to taste the grades they order, see how we work and meet the people behind the emails, visiting office and tea factories. To every one of you who made the trip, thank you. A visit tells us more about what you need than a hundred messages, and it tells you more about us than any brochure.
What a visit to Goo Farm looks like
Most visits start at our office at 15 Le Van Thiem, Thanh Xuan, Hanoi, where the sales team sits. Next to the meeting room is the sample room: shelves of sealed jars holding samples of every grade we produce, from orthodox OPA and OP down to CTC PD and tea dust, so any two grades can be put side by side on the cupping table.
A typical half day goes like this:
- Cupping. We brew the grades you are interested in side by side with your current supply, so differences in liquor, aroma and leaf are on the table rather than described in an email.
- Specifications and packing. We go through the grade specification, the moisture and sieve checks we run on each lot, the packing options and how many tons of your grade load in a 40-foot container.
- Samples to take home. Sealed samples of the grades you choose, labelled with the lot, so your own laboratory and tasters can confirm what you tasted in Hanoi.
- Factory visit, if time allows. Our factories are in Phu Tho and Yen Bai, a few hours from Hanoi by road. For visitors who stay longer we arrange a day at the factory to see withering, rolling, drying, sorting and packing in operation.
Packing and loading, seen for yourself
The question we are asked most often during visits is about packing: how the tea is bagged, weighed and loaded, and how the sacks look when the container is opened at destination. Bulk tea goes into PP/PE bags printed with the grade and the Goo Farm mark, each sack weighed on a platform scale before it is sealed, then stacked by hand into the container so that the load does not shift at sea.
Bag types, private-label printing, retail packs and the loading capacity of each grade per 40HC container are listed on our packing and loading page. If you would like to be present when your own order is packed, tell us the dates and we will plan production around your visit.
