OP is short for Orange Pekoe, the classic whole-leaf grade of orthodox black tea. The leaves are black, lightly curled and even in size. We roll them without cutting at our factories in Phu Tho and Yen Bai. Vietnam OP black tea is a step smaller than OPA, so more of it fits in the same space.
The OP cup: malty, with a long citrus finish
OP brews a deep amber cup with reddish-gold and orange tones. Its scent is fresh and slightly floral. The first impression is strong and malty. Then comes a smooth citrus finish that lasts, and this finish sets OP apart from our other orthodox grades. The body can take a little milk, but the citrus shows best in a plain cup.
Browse every orthodox black tea grade on one page, or compare OP with Pekoe and OPA in our orthodox buying guide. When you are ready to taste, request an OP sample and tell us how your customers drink their tea.

OP Black Tea FAQ
Does Orange Pekoe taste of orange? No. Orange Pekoe is a leaf-size grade in the orthodox grading system, not a flavour. OP means a whole, wiry leaf without tips.
What is the difference between OP and OPA? OPA has a longer, bolder, more open leaf and a lighter cup; OP is more tightly twisted and brews a fuller cup. OPA also loads fewer tons per container (about 13 against 17).
Can I get a sample and a COA? Yes. We are always happy to send samples, so you can check the quality before you order. The sample you approve is the reference for the whole order. A certificate of analysis comes with each lot, and SGS or Dai Viet Control inspection and Eurofins lab testing can be arranged per shipment.
What is the minimum order? There is no minimum order; the price depends on the quantity. You can also combine several grades in one 20ft or 40HC container, and we will confirm how many tons of each fit.
What payment terms do you accept? Flexible terms: T/T, L/C or a combination of the two, agreed for each order and written into the proforma invoice. Payment goes only to the company account of Goo Farm Tea Vietnam Company Limited, never to a personal account.
How is OP Black Tea packed, and how much fits in a container? PP/PE bags, kraft paper sacks, export cartons or vacuum aluminium bags. A 40HC container holds about 17 tons of OP Black Tea with standard bulk packing. Private-label bags and retail packs are available on request.
