Vietnam OPA Black Tea (Orange Pekoe A)
OPA is the largest whole-leaf grade in our orthodox range: long, bold, open leaf with a smooth, lighter cup. It is bought for loose-leaf tins and premium packs, especially in the CIS and the Middle East. Because the leaf is bulky, a 40HC holds only about 13 tons.

OPA stands for Orange Pekoe A. It is the largest leaf in our orthodox range: long, whole leaves with a light twist, a little bigger than OP. The leaf is rolled, not cut, and then sorted by size. Vietnam OPA black tea is the grade to choose when the look of the dry leaf matters as much as the taste.
What OPA looks like and how it brews
The long leaf opens slowly, so give it a longer steep than a broken grade. You get a reddish-gold liquor with orange highlights and a lightly floral scent. OPA is brisk and malty, with a citrus edge, and the finish is sweet with little tannin. Taste it plain first, because milk tends to hide its aroma.

Uses and Main Markets
Whole and large broken leaf for tins, boxes and pouches sold as loose tea.
Leaf grades for pyramid and large-format tea bags where the leaf stays visible.
Adds body and a brisk, malty base to breakfast, Earl Grey and chai blends.
We ship whole-leaf orthodox grades mainly to the CIS (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) and the Middle East, where loose black tea is the daily cup.
OPA Black Tea FAQ
Why does OPA load fewer tons per container? The leaf is long and open, so it takes more volume per kilogram. About 13 tons fit in a 40HC with standard bulk packing, against 17 tons of OP.
Which markets buy OPA? Mainly loose-tea markets in the CIS and the Middle East, where a large, attractive leaf is expected in the pack.
Can I get a sample and a COA? Yes. We are always happy to send samples, so you can check the quality before you order. The sample you approve is the reference for the whole order. A certificate of analysis comes with each lot, and SGS or Dai Viet Control inspection and Eurofins lab testing can be arranged per shipment.
What is the minimum order? There is no minimum order; the price depends on the quantity. You can also combine several grades in one 20ft or 40HC container, and we will confirm how many tons of each fit.
What payment terms do you accept? Flexible terms: T/T, L/C or a combination of the two, agreed for each order and written into the proforma invoice. Payment goes only to the company account of Goo Farm Tea Vietnam Company Limited, never to a personal account.
